Siemens discusses the Supata® case at NVIDIA GTC 2024

All Italian innovation in the field of AI and Industrial Metaverse showcased in San Jose, California, in a presentation titled A Smart Robot Born in the Industrial Metaverse, Enabled by OpenUSD.

This is the focal point of the longstanding collaboration between Siemens and EPF, and that’s was presented by the two protagonists of yesterday’s talk: Cristian Sartori, Country Business Segment Manager, and Vincenzo De Paola, AI Technical Sales Support at Siemens Digital Industries.

The Supata® EPF was presented as a case history and as a cutting-edge project that integrated Industrial Metaverse technologies to meet the growing needs in manufacturing with a flexible, customized, and sustainable solution. Supata® is suitable for any industrial configuration and is the ideal solution for companies dealing with small batches of different products.

The integration with AI also offers the possibility of introducing new parts into production without reprogramming the machine, which processes them autonomously and sets itself automatically. Thanks to simulation in a photorealistic environment within an industrial metaverse, synthetic data can be obtained and artificial intelligence can be trained even before the new part exists.

The use of AI models requires verifying their integrity over time. For this reason, the implementation of Siemens’ Industrial Edge platform was necessary to monitor the performance of the Supata® machine through an industrial app. Today, AI guides the robot in searching for the object grip through an optimized process where algorithms plan the minimum number of necessary vibrations.

Creating a simulation in a photorealistic environment within an industrial metaverse, thanks to integration with NDIVIA‘s Omniverse simulation platform, allows the customer to better understand how to solve any problems or improve some production cycles.
