The eleventh edition of INTERPOMA finished just a few weeks ago. INTERPOMA is an internationally renowned event that focuses on the entire life of the apple.
From cultivation to harvesting, from preservation to packaging and last but not least, marketing. In just 3 days, more than 20 thousand visitors from over 70 different countries attended INTERPOMA, and 489 exhibitors from 24 countries took part in the event. At this year’s event, EPF presented for the very first time a prototype of “POM”, an installation designed for companies operating in the apple packaging sector. To be specific, POM is a very compact automated installation that allows apples to be conveniently packaged by orienting them according to customer specifications, by using a vision system associated with an anthropomorphic robot. “POM” is an extremely innovative project that is the result of EPF’s twenty-year experience in the field of control systems and robotic applications developed for industrial automation.
The machine represents a perfect solution for manufacturers, allowing them to optimize packaging times and redeploy staff away from what is a consuming and low-skilled task. Time-saving is a fundamental characteristic of the installation. With its continuity of operations and speed of packaging, “POM” is a solution that can have a positive impact on reducing business costs, as well as a favourable return on investment.
On November 29th, an article was published in La Stampa in which we discussed our latest in-house prototype, the success of INTERPOMA 2018, as well as most importantly, innovation, a term which has characterized our company since its foundation in 1961.
